ผลประกาศรางวัล Golden Joystick Award ประจำปีนี้ออกมาแล้ว เกมยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปีตกเป็นของ Resident Evil Village ส่วนเกมยอดเยี่ยมตลอดกาล ซึ่งเป็นรางวัลพิเศษ ได้แก่ Dark Souls เกมแนว action RPG เมื่อปี 2011
Gamesradar สื่อเกมชั้นนำ ได้ออกมาประกาศผลรางวัล Golden Joystick Award 2021 ซึ่งเปรียบเสมือนรางวัล ออสการ์ หรือ ตุ๊กตาทอง แห่งวงการวิดีโอเกม โดยการตัดสินจากเสียงโหวตของเกมเมอร์ทั่วโลกผ่านช่องทางลงคะแนนเสียงออนไลน์ จึงอาจเรียกเป็นรางวัลมหาชนก็ไม่ผิดนัก
รางวัลใหญ่ที่เกมเมอร์และผู้เกี่ยวข้องในวงการรอฟังผลด้วยใจระทึกได้แก่ Ultimate Game of the Year หรือเกมยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปี ซึ่งตกเป็นของ Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village เป็นเกมแนว survival horror พัฒนาและเผยแพร่โดยบริษัท Capcom เป็นภาคต่อของ Resident Evil 7: Biohazard เมื่อปี 2017 โดยผู้เล่นรับบทเป็น Ethan Winters ซึ่งตามค้นหาลูกสาวที่ถูกลักพาตัวไปหลังจากบังเอิญเจอกับ Chris Redfield ก่อนหลงเข้าไปในหมู่บ้านลึกลับที่เต็มไปด้วยสิ่งแปลกประหลาดชวนสยองขวัญ โดยตัวเกมวางจำหน่ายเมื่อวันที่ 7 พฤษภาคม 2021
ไม่เพียงแค่รางวัลใหญ่ Resident Evil Village ยังหยิบรางวัลอีก 3 สาขาคือ เกม PlayStation ยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปี, การออกแบบเสียงยอดเยี่ยม และ นักแสดงในเกมยอดเยี่ยม ซึ่ง Meggie Robertson แสดงเป็น Lady Dimitrescu
Ultimate Game of All Time หรือ เกมยอดเยี่ยมตลอดกาล ซึ่งเป็นรางวัลพิเศษที่เพิ่มขึ้นในปีนี้ เป็นอีกหนึ่งสาขาที่ถูกจับตามองโดยตำแหน่งอันทรงเกียรตินี้ตกเป็นของ Dark Souls ส่วนเกมที่ได้รับคะแนนเสียงรองลงไปได้แก่ Doom (1993), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Half-Life 2, Minecraft, Street Fighter II, Tetris และ The Last of Us ตามลำดับ
Dark Souls เป็นเกมแนว action RPG ที่พัฒนาโดย FromSoftware และเผยแพร่โดย Namco Bandai วางจำหน่ายครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 22 กันยายน 2011 และยังได้รับความนิยมจนถึงปัจจุบัน
ในปีนี้ยังมีรางวัลพิเศษอีกหนึ่งรางวัลคือ Ultimate Hardware of All Time หรือเครื่องเล่นเกมยอดเยี่ยมตลอดกาล ตกเป็นของ PC ซึ่งคือเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์แบบตั้งโต๊ะตามบ้านและสำนักงานนั่นเอง
